The Chaldaean Oracles As Set Down By Julianus (1989 edition) (Out of Print)
by Stanley, Thomas (trans)
Binding: Hardcover with dust jacket
Book ID: A8116, A8116
Heptangle Books 1989. isbn 0935214119. 8vo. 110pp. Translated into the Latin by Francesco Patrizzi, and translated into English by Thomas Stanley. Letterpress, with rubricated title page. Original purple cloth with printed paper spine label, appendices and index. A new edition of 'the Chaldean Oracles' poetic fragments apparently received in trance. In the past they were commonly attributed to 'Zoroaster,' but recent scholarship assigns them to Julianus the theurgist, who lived during the third century CE. The book was considered of some importance within the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and this edition includes prefaratory notes by two prominent early members of that Order: W. Wynn Wescott and Percy Bullock. An unused copy in Fine condition in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket clean and not rubbed - but is lightly creased at front panel, and has two closed jagged vertical splits, one at front crease and at spine - not visible under mylar cover).

The manuscript appears and disappears throughout history, from the library of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II to a secret sale of books in 1903 by the Society of Jesus in Rome. The book s language has eluded deciphe...More
