Translated by Rolf W. Giebel, the works by Ku-kai include On the Differences between the Exoteric and Esoteric Teachings (Benkenmitsunikyo-ron), The Meaning of Becoming a Buddha in This Very Body (Sokushinjo-butsugi), The Meanings of Sound, Sign, and Reality (Sho-jijisso-gi), The Meanings of the Word Hu-m. (Unjigi), and The Precious Key to the Secret Treasury (Hizo-ho-yaku). Translated by Dale A. Todaro, the works by Kakuban include The Illuminating Secret Commentary on the Five Cakras and the Nine Syllables (Gorinkujimyo-himitsushaku) and The Mitsugonin Confession (Mitsugoninhotsurosangemon).
