The Dancing Faun (New)
by Farr, Florence
Book ID: 9781872189765, 1872189768
Usually available in 1-2 weeks
Born in 1860, Florence Farr was a member of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and author of a book on Egyptian Magic. She was a gifted psychic, an adept at scrying, interested in spiritualism, astral projection and divination, keen to make contact with other realms via her mystical experiments which she conducted in The Sphere Group (a side-group of the Golden Dawn). She was a keen student of alchemy, a Kabbalist, a writer and Egyptologist having studied with Budge at the British Museum.
Reproduced for the first time since the original publication in 1894 and hard to find until now. The Dancing Faun is a chilly, fast-paced story told with wit and deadly charm. The cold and frustrating characters first appear uncomplicated. It reads as a play, the characters appearing as if on cue and the scenes changing quickly. The presence of Florence permeates it. Her assertion that the characters are not taken from real life is untrue. Certainly they -- and their ideas -- are based on those around her. It is satirical, mocking, frivolous, and Florence claims to have written it as a 'bit of a joke'. It is the kind of vengeance fantasy one may have if wronged. Farr's esoteric ideas also just peep through the story. Florence was eager for it to be promoted when it was first published.

Angell s extensive illustrations show owls engaged in what owls do hunting, courting, raising families, and exercisi...More

Another key element of its ritual, the elaborate Seal of God, has been found in texts and amulets throughout Europe.
Interest in The Sworn Book of Honorius has grown in recent years, yet no modern translations have been attemptedunt...
