Themes III (New)
by Staveley, A. L.
Publisher: Two Rivers Press
Binding: Hardcover with dust jacket
Book ID: 9780897560139, 0897560132
The third collection of Themes.
These themes, presented on work days at Two Rivers Farm, are meant to be worked on -- not just read and discussed. Designed for those who are more interested in learning how to do the Gurdjieff work than in talking about ideas, philosophy or theory, these themes are not meant to answer questions but to bring some of the material in us which we take for granted, into question. To stir things up in our sluggish minds, to come out of the strait jacket of associative thinking. These are elementary exercises in self-study, a springboard for a practical approach to the ideas. It is possible group leaders, or groups without a leader, studying Mr. Gurdjieff's method might find one or another of these themes useful in their own peculiar and special circumstances and that would be good. But mainly the hope is that these themes should serve as an example of one approach to a practical way of working. ~ A.L. Staveley from the preface of Themes I. Hardbound and Handbound

Charing, Howard G
Inner Traditions / Bear & Company
After surviving a serious elevator crash in London, Howard G. Charing found he had developed healing touch as well as the ability to hear voices and experience visions--just as a healer in Italy had predicted only a week before the accident. He began using his abilities to heal but felt he needed more guidance and training. He first connected with a national spiritual healing organization, only to be told he was doing everything wrong. Then, through a friend, he discovered shamanism.
The Voynich Manuscript
Yale University Press
Many call the fifteenth-century codex, commonly known as the Voynich Manuscript, the world s most mysterious book. Written in an unknown script by an unknown author, the manuscript has no clearer purpose now than when it was rediscovered in 1912 by rare books dealer Wilfrid Voynich. The manuscript appears and disappears throughout history, from the library of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II to a secret sale of books in 1903 by the Society of Jesus in Rome. The book s language has eluded deciphe...More
