LA: Church of Light 1935-1936, first edition, small 8vo, publ's black limp cloth with gilt lettered and illustrated front cover, 416pp, many astrological, numerological, and symbolic plates, rare. On the Tarot, numerology, Kabbalah, ancient cycles, ancient charms, etc & etc, spine a bit faded else vg-f. From the library of Brian Street, Yakusa man, drug smuggler, jeweler, mountain man, ex-con, astrologer, tarot authority, old friend and book collector extraordinaire, with his pencilled "#38" on the front pastedown. His collection grew into the thousands over the years and included 17th Century manuscripts, signed Crowley material, and many Boehme firsts. A few years ago I learned that he attended the same school and in the same class as my mother! He wrote one book on the tarot, unpublished so far (I have the mss). Elbert Benjamine was born in Iowa in 1882. He was a key member in the later years of the HB of L. There is a good biography of him at www.light.org. What we have here are 12 of his original lessons, each with title page. There are many individual reprints.
